Expressive Lighing

This picture shows expressive lighting with the flash taking over. I took this picture with my own camera, and i held the shutter for six seconds. It looks like the light is pulling the picture but its still focused.

This picture used a flash light just to illuminate the details but still can see his facial features.

Lighting Take Home Question

I agree with the choices that the lighting director chose, because it is a facial cream i feel like the director wanted to go out of the normal extreme close up and try to really try something different. the fastfall on the extreme closeup gives you a different angle and suggest a out of the norm approach. Now some people may disagree and say that a fast fall would be better for a different sort of advertisement but this commerical takes the facial cream illuminates the facial structure which are the normal problem areas for those with the acne who need the cream. Granted the whole face could use the lighting, but I do think that the Lighting Director was trying to show it a non generic way, just like every other facial cream commerical.

Storyline

The Story begins with him trying to make dinner for his girlfriend.

This picture is the "point of view" from the fridge.

The next image is the point with him trying to prepare the meal.

He begins to work on the meal that he prepares

He walks away to answer the phone

He looks over and sees that the food is smoking

and rushes over to the food

turns on the fan

Then we see his girlfriend walking down the hall

He suprises her with flowers that are..well.. pretty

She loves them

They walk to dinner hand and hand

He prepares to serve her the burt food that he worked so hard on

She loved the food as well..

In Class Group Assignment.

Its bright and early in the morning and Vanessa is on her way to the office in any minute.
Vanessa the Talk show finally arrives at work

She begins her work day with going over the news and daily events and anticipates her guest arrival

Her guest arrive and she greets them and they begin the interview.

Her sound mixer and cohost is shown doing her responsibilities.

Once the interview is over Vanessa Kindly walks them out.

On, April 7, 2010, around 12:00pm my group walked into the radio station to prepare for an interview as we walked in we decided to meet up with Vanessa to get a briefing of what the interview would be about and how we would go about answering the questions Vanessa explained to the group that we would be interviewed on the student government of Kean University and how we conduct different activities and also how we go about receiving funds. Vanessa also told the group that we would be able to tour the radio station and also experiment with the equipment that’s inside the radio station. The interview was very interesting each member of the group was able to talk and express the different social views of the student government and the bonus part of the interview we where able to tour the station and play with the switch boards that gave everyone the hands on experience they needed to actually get a feel for the radio station. The entire day went well and we enjoyed being interviewed at WKNJ stations.

Part II
If today wasn’t hectic enough for Carlos with balancing school, work, and a girlfriend he is in love with he had to cook dinner for their anniversary. Once he finally got back to his apartment on campus he realized he had a million and one things to do before Tia arrived for dinner. He took the elevator up to his room and started looking for things to prepare for dinner and all the ingredients he would have to bring downstairs to the community kitchen. So Carlos and searching and searching and finally finds macaroni and cheese to make. So he gathered all the ingredients and headed downstairs and started cooking. And then all of a sudden he remembered that he had to call his girlfriend Tia and double check what time she was coming.

“Hey baby, whats up?” said Carlos.

“Hey babe; nothing much just getting ready for tonight. I’m really excited about our anniversary tonight. I wonder you’re going to cook for me tonight?” Tia said in an excited tone.

“Yeah, I’m excited too. And as for the dinner tonight it’s a surprise something I’m sure you’ll like. Uhm speaking of the dinner tonight what time are you going to come?” Carlos said in a hesitant voice almost unsure.

“Well, I mean we spoke about it earlier today and you said 7:30pm was good for you. Why what’s wrong? Do we need to reschedule?” Tia said with worry in her voice.

“Well, uhhh I mean that’s what we agreed on and I mean we should stick to it. And nah, I would never reschedule on you, especially on our anniversary.” Carlos said was doubt in his voice.

“Great! You almost had me going there, like ‘is he really going to skip out on our dinner tonight’! Hahahahaha!” Said Tia.

Then out of nowhere Carlos forgets about the food on the stove and smells it starting to burn.

“Um baby I gotta go, something just came up but, that’s good see you then. Bye. I Love you baby.”

“Yeap, Love you too baby!”

So Carlos ran to the burning food and nearly burnt the food. And then it dawned on him that he needed flowers so he randomly found flowers outside of his building to give to Tia.

“Hopefully these will do.” Carlos said to himself.
Looking back and forth at his watch he realized time had ran out and Tia was already on her way. He went in the hallway to go surprise her with the flowers behind his back.

“Hey baby” Said Tia.

“Happy Anniversary baby” said Carlos

Then they hugged and Tia noticed there was something behind his back and said “What’s that?” And he replied “These are for you.” He handed her the nearly dead flowers. Tia was accepting of the flowers but you can see all over her face she was shocked by the kind of flowers Carlos got her. As he lead her down the hall holding hands to the community kitchen for her dinner surprise Tia smelled the food down the hall and said “What’s that smell? I wonder who’s burning food in the kitchen.” She said in a joking matter. Carlos with the look of worry on his face he said “uhm I wonder who that is.” He led her into the kitchen and Tia said:

“I see its you then; I mean I’ll down to try it”

Carlos replied “I hope so, I was running late on everything today and when I was on the phone with you it started burning that’s why I had to go”

So Tia tried the food and immediately spit it out with disgust. “Nice try honey, thank you for dinner tonight. This was indeed a memorable anniversary.”

While brainstorming all sorts of ideas we finally came up with an idea that might actually work. We decided to make one of the Kean University residence halls our main location specifically the kitchen and one of the apartments.
When we went to observe the people in the residence halls we noticed that the security desk, the elevators, the apartments and the refrigerator. We also went to the community kitchen where we were going were also going to do some other shooting. We also noticed in the kitchen a group of girls cooking. One had the job of preparing the food, the other was at the stove checking the boiling water, and the other one was just sitting at the table waiting. We also listened to them talk about different ways that they have cooked patlitos (empanadas) before in the past. We also noticed like background fixtures like in the apartment for example we noticed they had couches, counter space in their kitchen area, television, lamps, and a dining table. In the community kitchen there was a flat screen television, two stoves, two sinks, a few stools, dining table, microwave, and toaster ovens.
After observing everything we came up with a concept of an anniversary dinner for a couple where the boyfriend Carlos has to cook his girlfriend Tia dinner and we watch as he hassles to get everything done before her arrival.

Class Assignment

The class assignment reequired us to describe mood throughout the clips. Both videos were ones that my group and I decided would brst suit the assignment.

The Twilight Clip shows how when Bella, the Non Vampire is lite, her face is dull compare to the amlost white color of skin of the vampires.




Jay-Z video goes through all of his album colors and the lighting changes respectfully for each cover. Bringing the mood change with each album.


This music video is shot very guerilla style with little light to give it a more rough feel.
